Initial consultation.

I offer short or long-term therapy on an individual basis.

When you first get in touch having decided you’re serious about exploring therapy, we will arrange a consultation session for which I will charge £60 (or £30, if we decide to only use half a session). This initial session will allow us to get a feel for one another and for me to begin to understand your situation, what brings you to therapy now and what you might wish to get out of the work.

All sessions, including the initial consultation, are 50 minutes.

It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions that you might have before beginning therapy in earnest, which might include questions about me and how we would work, or what other therapies are out there. I can help guide you as to what might be best for you; and I wilI let you know whether I see working with me as a good fit for you.

Regular sessions.

Should we both wish to continue after that first session, we would then look to arrange a time each week when we could meet together.

It is important for both client and therapist to be equally committed and that therapy takes place regularly and consistently, wherever possible. Meeting each week works well in most cases; and certainly at the beginning as we build our relationship.

Fees.

After that initial consultation, sessions will usually be in the range of £65 to £85, depending on your means. We will agree a fee at the beginning of our work. A conversation on a reduced fee is welcome with good reason.

If you feel in need of therapy and my hourly fee would prevent you from seeking my support, then please bring this to my attention and we can talk about what might be done.

At each calendar half-year (1st Jan & 1st June) I will consider again our fee and its appropriateness in all the circumstances. If I believe a change is for the best, then I will discuss this with you. As we go, it will be important that we are both comfortable with the financial arrangement between us.

Cancellation & non-attendance.

Whilst we are working together, the expectation will be that we meet each week, save for the weeks around Christmas and Easter and the August holiday period when it works well for both client and therapist to take a short and regular break. I would inform you in good time when those weeks fall.

Within this, I would ask for at least one week’s notice if you intend to cancel our weekly session. Should you cancel within 48 hours of the session or fail or otherwise be unable to attend (including illness), then you will be liable to pay the full fee of the missed session. In the event that you are unable to make a session and haven’t let me know at least 48-hours beforehand, I will endeavour to find with you another time that week when we can both meet (for which you wouldn’t be charged on top of the missed session), subject to my having some availability.

Our arrangement would be that payment is made on the day of the session or the day following by bank transfer. Please ask me for my account details.
